Roll the dice.

I love it when someone paints an otherwise boring object like this park light/vent at Collaroy, and makes it rather eye catching. Added bonus of my daughter's shadow.

Manly Council Circus.

This is the Manly Council chambers.  I've shown this photo before, but I wanted to post it again for a very good reason.  This is the council which will, from July 1st, increase the parking in the council car parks by more than doubleAt the moment I pay $40 per week to park my car.  Some say that's expensive enough already.   But from the 1 July I will have to pay $90 per week.  This is all the idea of the General Manger Henry Wong.  A man whom many say has lost touch with reality.  His excuse is that the Manly Chamber of Commerce wants increased short term parking in the Manly area.  However the Chamber of Commerce said in todays paper that while it did want more short term parking to encourage more visitors and shoppers to the area, it was looking at actually decreasing some of the fees - not increasing them.  It will be interesting see what happens when people finally lose patience with this council and Mr Wong in particular.

Tiled floor

Saw this wonderful mosiac on a Newtown footpath.   I'm on holidays for 3 weeks but am staying local.  So I'm still able to show you lovely photos of Sydney ;)

The wet returns

Sydney almost managed to dry out after a nice sunny break of 2 weeks, but the rain is back.
Am a little tired after getting up at 4:30am to watch Australia play Serbia.  So I guess my brain hasn't kicked in and I can't think of anything else to write.

Tuesdays musings ...... it is Tuesday isn't it?

There is no Sydney related post today.  I posted this drawing I'm working on at the moment because it reflects how I feel lately - fuzzy headed.  After a week of migraines I'm amazed I can even spell let alone type.  I've left this poor girls face to last because I always have trouble with faces.  And if you're wondering - yes it is a copy of a Degas sketch.

We are the mods.............

As promised in a previous post here is a photo I took when at the Powerhouse Museum for the 80's exhibit.  I remember a boyfriend from those days being hugely into the mod movement.  Ah the good ol' days........

Historic Lights

Last weekend we went to the Macquarie Visions, part of the Vivid festival, the annual festival of light and music.  Oddly enough held during the wetest month of the year.  The rain held off just long enough to get a few photos.  The beautiful historic buildings along Macquarie St from St Marys Cathedral to the Opera House are lit up every night until 20 June.  It's a nice family thing to do on a Saturday night and it's free (albet the cost of transport or parking).  Just rug up.   The above picture is of Parliment House.

Da Vinci Secrets

As I said in my last post, last weekend we went to a Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit in the Town Hall.  It's incredibly interesting and I recommend it to anyone visiting Sydney up until August.  Apparently it's suposed to be the last time it's shown in Australia.  I doubt it though.
This weekend I'm hoping to look at the Vivid festival.  That is if the rain stops.
Whatever the weather I hope everyone has a great weekend.

ipads anyone?

I was going to post some photos of exhibitions I've been to lately but I just couldn't resist this one.  We were in the city on Saturday for a Da Vinci exhibit and I saw this scene when we walked past the Apple store.  It was 2 days after the launch of the ipad.  This place is usually crowded but I've not seen it this crowded before.  Its the official start of Winter today.  Happy Winter!
