Some spooky confectionary

Some decidedly creepy cupcakes for daughters class today - it being Halloween and all.  We'll be doing the rounds of Trick or Treating as this is posted.
Happy Halloween everyone.

Pumpkins.

A little bit of a garden harvest (not mine) of pumpkins just in time for Halloween.  Well at least it's not Christmas photos I hear you groan.    That's all for today.  Time to get back to my lists.

Holiday season is approaching - Where do I start?

These are some of my photos of Christmas past (of the white cold variety).    I'm actually in Halloween mode - but don't have any photos yet.
I've also added to my ever growing pile of lists, a list for Halloween baking, as well as daughter's birthday party items.
But I'm still feeling decidedly snowy.  I even started playing Christmas carols today as I painted another wall in the lounge room.
An odd sortment of celebrations revolving in my head.
All I need now is to get out the menorah ..........

A Moment Of Quiet Reflection

I think I've posted this photo before.  No matter, it describes how I feel.  Quiet.  Tired from a full and fun weekend, but also now full of reflection and thoughts of those who are no longer here.
Hold close and cherish  those who are dear to you - one day they may be gone forever.

As the duck flies..................

As you read this I'll be winging my way to Queensland for a few days of sun, surf, and family.  Yes that's right I'm ducking up North again.
Oh ok - enough attempts to somehow link this random picture of a duck to my holiday.  Clever I am not.
Needless to say I'm not in Sydney for a few days.
I have a wedding to attend. :)

Time to hunt for my Bing Crosby CD's

The Christmas decorations have made their appearance in departments stores again.  Actually it was late September when they arrived.  I know it's early but still, I get excited every time.  Christmas is my ultimate favourite time of the year.  I've started humming "I'm Dreaming Of A White Christmas" already and I've not yet finished daughter's Halloween costume.  Daughter and I have already spent hours wandering the decorations department of various stores.  I'm compiling lists and planning dinners.  I love it.  The only thing missing is snow.
Yes I do love the Aussie Xmas.  BBQ's on the beach with family, spending all day in my swimmers and falling asleep in Grandma's "holiday house" with sand still between my toes are a treasured childhood memory.  However when I first experienced a white Christmas back in 1999 I was hooked!  There is just something about it.  Yes it's cold, yes it's wet, but yes it's also magical.  Maybe it's because it's not a yearly occurrence for me, maybe it's because it's different to what I'm used to, or I watched too many Christmas specials as a child.  Whatever the reason - something about a white Christmas brings out the kid in me.  I see the Christmas lights on the snow and I'm in fairyland.
The above shots are from Sis-in-law's place a few years ago and every December I make them my desktop wallpaper.  Daughter and I have decided that next year is the year to do it again.  Another White Christmas.  It's a good thing too - I need new wallpaper.

Tinkering about

I love Spring.  It gives me a boost of energy and I seem to start lots of projects.  Of course by early Summer I'm jack of the lot so have a myriad of unfinished projects lying about.
At the moment I'm in the process of painting the living room, redesigning the house and garden, working extra hours and am cooking up a plan for a big holiday next year.
Plus we are off up the Sunshine Coast again, but this time for a wedding.
So of course I think the time is perfect for a blog change.  Just a small one.  I found this dreamy background in the new blogger templates and thought it perfect for "Through My Window" theme.  I think it suits.  Still, a little bit of tweaking won't go astray.
Today is my day off so it's a perfect day for working on none of the above - I think I'll bake instead.
