Life getting you down? Make a cake!

A weeks rest and I'm back to working order.  Thank you for your lovely comments in my last post.  We had another curve ball thown at us this last week.  I'm getting rather tired of them.  When life threw us yet another , I did what any self respecting girl would do.  Reach for the drinks cabinet.  No no, not really, though that was a consideration.  I BAKED.  A chocolate honey cake by Nigella of course.  Recipe here.  So rich, so honey sweet, so CHOCOLATY!!!!  I wanted to make something from what I already had in the cupboard as I was too lazy to run down the to the store.  So no little marzipan bees on my cake - instead I toasted almond flakes and sprinkled them oh so artistically on and around the cake.  My sauce didn't sit so beautifully on my cake as Nigella's (it never does), but it did dribble deliciously between slices making it look like a pudding cake.  All I need now is a sherry..........................

Animated arty adornement and a super small sabbatical

Yesterday I went to a vintage fair out at Canterbury, and had an absolute blast - but was too shy to take photos.
Next time, next time - promise.
Anyhoo - I am off for a couple of days.
Day surgery - no biggie.
But I will be a little sore and lazy as I recuperate.
So, in the meantime, here's another arty shot by teenage niece, taken just outside Luna Park.
This girl has talent.

A saturday stroll

It was a sunny Saturday afternoon, the hubby and child were out, I had the house to myself, and I was stuck inside working on a presentation for work.  And I had writers block.   To say I was frustated was an understatement.  So I went for a walk outside to clear my head

Refreshed I returned - and read a book instead.

(This post has been a long time writing - thanks to difficulty finding reception in this house)

Arty friday photo

This morning I received a photo taken by teenage niece a few weeks ago, when she came for a 4 day visit with her mum and siblings.  And she has kindly allowed me to post it here.

So, without further ado, here is the first of (hopefully) many arty photos taken by my talented  niece (I think she has found her calling)

Luna park - by teenage niece.
Happy weekend everyone!

So long winter!

The 1st of September brought the official start to Spring, but I recall feeling it had already started a couple of weeks before when I caught my first whiff of the season of jasmine.

The weather is warm and sunny, the blankets are starting to be kicked off at night, I learned that bees are incredibly hard to photograph, and - finally - I wore a dress today with BARE LEGS!!!!
