The small hours

No more my little song comes back;
And now of nights I lay
My head on down, to watch the black
And wait the unfailing grey.

Oh, sad are Winter nights, and slow;
And sad's as song that's dumb;
And sad it is to lie and know
Another dawn will come.

Last holiday post before normal life resumes

Hubby and I are back in work mode and daughter is getting ready for school to start again next week.

To keep that holiday spirit going just a tad longer here are some pretty buildings I photographed in Berry back in October 2013.

We revisited this lovely town during the Christmas holidays, but strangely I didn't take any photos on my BRAND NEW CAMERA that hubby bought me for Christmas.

However I did take hundreds of snaps of other fun things - now if I could just figure out how to upload them to my laptop.............................

A seaside holiday

A break was what we needed.
"To the sea, to the sea" we cried.
We stayed in a cottage full of mystery and history

With pretty gardens beside.

We shopped in the village square
And rescued a princess from a tower

We searched for the den where the dragon slept

She showed her displeasure

And we copped a shower..................

Once all the shopping and climbing and hopping was done
We returned for a light dinner

Renewed we stepped out for a midnight stroll

And a quick dance in pussy cat slippers.

Late resolutions

The two people I love most in the world.  Taken at Nan Tien Temple, Oct 2013

I've been reading other blog posts about new year resolutions and I got to thinking again.

Yes again.

The only new years resolution I've ever stuck to was one I made over a decade ago, and that was to never again make a new years resolution.

But maybe it's time for a change.

I'm not interested in the I'll get fit and go to the gym this year, or I'll stop smoking or drink less kind of resolution.  I'm after a more deeper, personal kind of change (besides I don't smoke, have already decided to cut back on the social wine consumption and as for the gym - well that's just never going to happen people).

I thought of 12 changes, and instead of trying to initiate all at once and swamping myself in the challenges I've made for myself, I'm going to make one change or learn one thing a month.

Anyway, lets just see how it goes.

January change: Spend more time with my loved ones.  Book holidays, weekends and just family fun time.

A questionable quest

The faithful knight set out on a quest.
A long and arduous quest.
He meandered many meadows,

road rife roads, climbed countless causeways, traipsed tons of tracks and bridged bountiful - um bridges.

He wandered wild woodlands and confronted cunning creatures.

Until at last he found the monk's temple.
(Sorry - I'm all out of alliteration)

Where he rang the religious ringer (ok I had one more left in me).

A mysterious occurrence

One day colourful and blinding rays of light beamed down over the city.

One touched a common garden snail.

It glowed red and started to grow.........................

At first it was a little confused -

But then decided to go shopping.

2014 - what to do?

Ring out the old and ring in the new!
2014 is upon us and it's time to cease reflection and put plans into action.

Trouble was - I didn't make any plans.......................

A walk in the garden helps to sort thoughts............

About what to do with the garden.
