The elegance of eryldene

How silly one feels walking around in the rain with umbrella in one hand and camera in another, even if the gardens are very pretty.
Shelter was needed to re-evaluate my sanity.

I decided the paths were too enticing to ignore, and I was rewarded for my efforts.

The sound of rain beating on my umbrella, the discovery of flowers I had not seen before, the splish splosh of raindrops in forgotten pottery.  A delight to my senses.

However the abundance of moisture and a rapidly depleting camera battery forces me to again seek shelter.
A circular window reveals what I need.

Diamonds and pearls

What kind of magic creates these strings of glass?

Is it fairies?

Or woodland creatures?

Or perhaps some very talented spiders?

Let's just hope that the cheeky cockatoos don't spy them.

Or we'll lose our magical decorations.

I'm taking a small blog break for the second week of the school holidays, but shall return next week with more  adventures in my land of whimsy, dreams and alliterate knights

Sounds of the sea

Scrunch scrunch scrunch
A shell!
Look at this one!
Let's dig
Sand in the fingernails
I'm going to build the BIGGEST sandcastle EVER!

Splish splash
Lots of rock pools
Look at the crab!
See?!
In there!

Up on Dad's shoulders
Now I can see ANTARCTICA!

Pretty pebbles for my collection
MUM LOOK WHAT I FOUND!

Fish and chips
One more dip

Feeling sleepy

I'm not tired really

Dad carries me back to the car

not tired...............

Sand
         in
             my
                   swimmers

Warm blanket in back seat
Pebbles in my pocket

Not .............. tired..........................................

The juggler

It matters not the job you've got
as long as you do it well,
Things are made by plans well laid
the test of time will tell.
But how can you count or know the amount
of a value of a man
by the show displayed or the beauty made
by the touch of a juggler's hand.............

Poem from here
(If anyone knows who this clever poet is, please let me know so I can put his/her name at
the end.)

Holidays and decisions

April is upon us and it's time for me to disclose my April resolution.

This one is a bit different.
Because I only decided upon it this morning.

And that is to finalise our holiday plans.
We're having a short break in Winter (Southern Hemisphere Winter that is),
and another longer holiday at Christmas.

Our Winter break is almost organised - really only need to decide what to pack and get sizes for snow gear.
But our Christmas break is still in the idea stage.
Time to pull up our Christmas Stockings and book flights and decide on itineraries.

Otherwise our ship will sail without us.............................

A memory of trees

Once upon a time there was a little girl who loved to climb trees

When life became difficult she would grab her favourite book,
and climb the tallest tree she could find.

There she would sit for hours,

swinging her feet,

feeling the breeze rustle the leaves,
listening to the birds,
and getting blissfully lost in Wonderland.

 The trees became her guardians,
her sentinels.

When she grew up, life became less difficult, and she had the warmth of her husbands arms, and the kisses of her own child to comfort her during times of trial.

But upon seeing these magnificent giants, she remembered her old friends,
and wished for young legs and a copy of Alice In Wonderland - just one more time.
